John Vanderslice is due for a new album, titled White Wilderness, via Dead Oceans on Jan. 11 in the new year. He's collaborated with the Magik*Magik Orchestra with Minna Choi at the helm.

It's everything we've grown to love about the music of John Vanderslice, but with a fresh air of spontanaeity, grandiosity and symphony. Not in an orachstral, pretentious way, but in a way that fills out his music with explosions of strings and horns and piano.
Mr. Vanderslice and the Magik*Magik Orchestra recorded the album over a three-day period to give it a fresh, less-toiled-over sound. As a result, it sounds more live and spontaneous.
