Grinderman are set to release a Grinderman remix album titled Grinderman 2 RMX on Mar. 12/13 via Mute Records. We get our first taste of the album with the Nick Zinner (Yeah Yeah Yeahs) remix of the song “Bellringer Blues (Nick Zinner Remix).” Fuzzed out bliss meets grainy, low-tech digital camera shots that are one part static fuzz analog tv and one part modern day digital video clips edited together as short-attention span viewing.

Watch Lee Ranaldo "Shouts" Live in Portugal

There's a new live video of Lee Ranaldo playing the song "Shouts" during a recent performance in Porto, Potugal. The song is based on picture from Vancouver after a riot, and a photographer took a photo of a rioters and riot police clashing. Within the photo was a couple laying on the ground kissing and the photo is aptly called Riot Kiss. How's that for irony?

"Shouts" is taken from the upcoming Lee Ranaldo album Between The Times & The Tides which arrives via Matador Records on Mar. 20. It includes appearances by Nels Cline, John Medeski, bassist Irwin Menkin, SY drummer Steve Shelley, Jim O’Rourke and Bob Bert. Lee will be at Glasslands Gallery in Brooklyn, NY on Dec. 16 and the New York Guitar Festival on Jan. 12 at the Merkin Concert Hall. A larger Lee Ranaldo tour will happen in 2012.

Folk singer-songwriter Sharon Van Etten will release her new album Tramp on Feb. 7 on  Jagjaguwar Records, her third album and anticipated by fans of acts like The National and Bon Iver.

"Throughout the 14 months of scattered recording sessions, Van Etten was without a home -- crashing with friends and storing her possessions between varied locations. The only constant in Van Etten's life during this time was spent in Aaron Dessner's garage studio," reads the description from the JagJaguwar web site.

Check out Cassettes Won't Listen (a.k.a. Jason Drake) on the Pixies song “Hey,” from the classic album Doolittle. He definitely digs the 80's covers --- he's done Duran Duran, INXS and The Cure as well. Spacey and echoey, reverb bouncing around the vocals and parts of the music while other parts of the instruments come across crystal clear. It has all of the passion and intensity of the original Pixies song, redone to sound like Cassettes Won't Listen. This is the way a cover song should be done -- take it and make it your own sound.
