Thom Yorke covers the song “All For the Best” from the tribute disc Ciao My Shining Star: The Songs of Mark Mulcahy. Mark's wife Melissa passed away in 2008, leaving Mulcahy to raise his twin daughters.
Califone have made the jump to new recording label. Their new album will be released by Dead Oceans on October 6th. The album is part of a film done by singer Tim Rutili titled All My Friends Are Funeral Singers.
Sounds like a happy situational comedy-type film.
The album was recorded in Chicago at Clava/Four Deuces, and produced by Brian Deck and Califone. The band got downright experimental in the studio; check out some of the instruments involved: optigan, stylophone, baritone ukulele, mbira, and thumb piano.

Just when they had faded from your mind (but not your ears), Times New Viking have returned with a new album titled Born Again Revisited. The album sees (and hears) Times New Viking triumphant and confident in
a sound that's borderline analog crazy. In the best way.
The Clean hail from New Zealand, and the music is just as clean as the name suggests -- clean-cut pop music. The New York Times went as far as to call it a "jangly, damaged kind of guitar pop."
Tensile is a straight-forward take on the NYT description. It's clean (living up to their name) and approaches convention in a warbled and abstract kind of way -- it seems like a structured pop song, but it's actually a deviated slight of hand.
